Henry Hsieh

Biography
          Henry Hsieh was born in 1995 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a tenth grader at William G. Enloe High School in Raleigh. He started his first piano lesson at age three with Ms. Grace Johnson who teach young beginner piano class. At age eight, he was a student of Ms. Brenda Bruce for more advance study. Since the summer of 2007, he has been a student of Mr. John Ruggero to begin his quest to become a concert pianist.
Henry has participated in many local and state competitions and has received awards from North Carolina Federation of Music Clubs (NCFMC), the Raleigh Piano Teacher Association, the Cary/Apex Piano Teacher Association and the Durham Piano Teacher Association. In 2006, he won a prize in the Old Dominion University Classical Period Piano Competition in Norfolk, Virginia. In April 2009, he was the first place state winner of the Musically Advanced II level (the most difficult level) in the NCFMC Festival and with it also their Hinda Honigman Scholarship. He was also the state winner of the NCFMC Royalty Competition in the Prince category. Henry had his debut recital on January 2010 at Ruggero Piano Auditorium in Raleigh.
          In addition to the piano, Henry also takes the violin lesson. He begins the violin lesson in fall 2007 with Ms. Stephanie Swisher at Duke University String School and joins the DUSS Youth Orchestra.
